November 10, 2020
1st Quarter Report Cards are viewable online in Infinite Campus and are being mailed home. Please review this information with your child and reach out to any teachers with questions. Friday, November 13 will be a remote only day for all students--we’ll follow a typical Wednesday schedule.
VETERAN’S DAY: No School Wednesday November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day. On behalf of the administration and staff, I would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to our Veterans. We have a number of Veterans on our staff and many, many Nokomis Alumni and members of the RSU 19 Community who have served our country. Thank you for your service!
STUDENT LED CONFERENCES:
Our fall Student Led Conferences will be held virtually and hosted by each student’s advisor this year. During the week of November 16, advisors will send you an invitation to confirm a date and time for both you and your student to review their 1st Quarter progress. This format will include just you, your student, and the advisor. If you would like to talk to a specific teacher, please reach out to that teacher via email anytime.
ATTENDANCE AND HEALTH:
Please continue to call or email us if your child is out, and remember that any and all students can join remotely from home if they’re sick.
For online classes, students are expected to participate and stay logged in for the whole class. Students who leave before the end of the class or do not respond to teacher prompts will be marked absent for the class.
PLAN FOR NEXT STEPS and “WHAT IF’S”:
At the Tuesday, November 17 RSU 19 Board Meeting, I will be presenting the data on three categories of students - the number of students attending remotely, those in our hybrid model, and those who indicated on the survey that they would choose a 4-day, in-person model if it’s an option. I will ask for the Board’s guidance and support regarding this data.
While our goal and hope is to provide as much in-person opportunity as we can safely, we are mindful of the increasing number of COVID cases in and around our community and State.
In the event public health conditions demand we move to a fully remote model, we will continue to use the same schedule we are using now except all students will attend class remotely. If that happens, I would anticipate it would be for a set period of time, such as 2 or 3 weeks vs an indefinite period of time.
I am so proud of the hard work our students and staff are putting into making this challenging situation be as good as it can be. I hope all of Warrior Nation continues to stay healthy. With Thanksgiving nearing, I am truly grateful for the amazing people in our RSU 19.
