March 15, 2020

Good Afternoon,

To support public health and keep our students and staff safe, RSU 19 will close schools beginning Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27, 2020.  All staff will report to work on Monday and Tuesday, March 16-17 to prepare materials for students to work on at home. We are mindful that not all of our students have access to technology and the internet so we will have both online and paper/pencil work available.  We will notify parents via automated call, district website and school Facebook about times/dates parents can pick up class work at schools. School lunch and breakfast will be provided at no charge to any students who request it. To order food, use this form (http://bitly.com/RSU19MEALS) or call your child’s school between 8:30 am - 12:00 pm Monday or Tuesday.  Once you communicate with us, meal delivery to homes will begin by bus as soon as possible.

School buildings will be closed to the public, however, staff will have access as needed.  The custodial staff will be working on a deep clean of our school buildings. Please keep your personal information up to date and stay tuned for further information, specifically food service delivery, learning materials, and other services the school department delivers.

District Administration will be available via phone or email.  There is a strong community bond in RSU 19 and we want to do our part in supporting the families and students of RSU 19 through this challenging time. This is a rapidly evolving situation.  We have made this plan based on information currently available and we will continue to monitor and re-assess the situation. Stay tuned for additional updates.

Sincerely,

Michael Hammer

RSU 19 Superintendent of Schools
